Cougar Women Look For Sixth Straight Win At MSOE

Fresh off a stunning comeback win over Lakeland last Saturday, the CUC women will aim for their sixth in a row tonight when they take on the MSOE Raiders up in Milwaukee.

The Cougars trailed by 18 points in the first minute of the fourth quarter before a couple of threes began the late charge. Taylor Jacobsen led the way, scoring 21 of her game-high 30 points in the fourth quarter and the overtime. Crystal Corr, Courtney Lofink and Kayla Horlacher also made significant contributions to the win that put the Cougars at 10-2 overall, 6-2 in the NACC. The Cougars are currently in fourth place behind 8-0 Wisconsin Lutheran and a pair of 7-1 teams that play each other tonight, Benedictine and Concordia Wisconsin. Thus, a win by CUC will move them into a tie for third place.

The Raiders are currently headed in the opposite direction with a four-game losing streak and a 5-8, 3-5 record. Lots has changed at MSOE, including a new head coach and the loss of four-year star Holly Denfeld, but the Raiders were able to welcome back Shaylan Reardon this season. The 5' 11' guard posted some solid stats two years ago before missing much of last year to injury, but Reardon is back and averaging 14.5 points while playing a diversified game. MSOE has had trouble on the glass this year, opponents capturing nearly six more boards per game, and that is an area the Cougars will hope to exploit this evening.
