Sept. 4, 2017 - After facing two tough opponents to begin the 2017 season, the Concdiordia University Chicago women's soccer team took to the pitch again today to close out the holiday weekend and the season-high three-game home stand. The Cougars welcomed the Webster University Gorloks to River Forest on a hot and humid day.
Â
Through most of the first half, it was Webster who was on the offensive attack. CUC was able to keep the match scoreless though behind the great goaltending effort by
Ally Krajnak with three saves in the first half. CUC continued to try and work the ball forward but was unable to get any offensive threat mounted. Both teams headed to the locker room at halftime with zeros on the scoreboard.
Â
Webster continued to push the ball forward to begin the second half, but strong work in goal early byun
Maddie Kroll continued to keep the game scoreless until Chelsea Noser knocked home the first goal of the match in the 68
th minute after the initial shot hit the crossbar. The Gorloks then doubled their lead just over two minutes later when Joi Wilson tapped home her second goal of the season after the initial shot was saved by Kroll.
Â
Unfortunately for the Cougars, they were able to get any offense going on their end in the second half. They would fall by a final score of 2-0 to end the home stand.
Â
The Cougars (0-3) will now get ready to head south to Dallas, Texas, where they are set to take on the University of Texas at Dallas on Friday night at 7 p.m. They will then take on Willamette University the following night in Dallas.
