March 10, 2017 - Just three days after posting the first win in the two-year history of Concordia-Chicago women's lacrosse, the Cougars earned number two this afternoon. A dominating performance by the maroon and gold resulted in a 15-4 win over the Comets of Olivet College.
The entire town of Olivet, MI was hit by a power outage since being hit by winter storms, and the game was played under "old-school" conditions with no electronic scoreboards, computerized stats, etc. Stats will be made available later this evening or Saturday, so watch this space as we will gather the highlights and post them here when they are available.
According to CUC head coach
Brian Patterson, Anna Kellar had a strong game, ably supported by
Margaret Doane, Sydney Fuller and
Sonja Sorensen. "Our entire team is really understanding more about how to handle a game and how they need to work together," said Patterson. "They played a very confident match today, keeping the ball in the offensive end for the second half and controlling the play."
The Cougars (2-1) will go for three in a row on Sunday when they play at Alma College in Alma, MI before coming home for three matches next week. "Alma is a more experienced team than the last couple we've played, and we expect they will come out hard and fast and give us a good test," said Patterson.
