Madison, Wis.- Looking to keep pace in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference playoff race, the Concordia University Chicago Women's Soccer team took to the pitch under light rain and fall temperatures against the Edgewood College Eagles.
Sydney Fuller and
Meghan Vasseur proved to be the difference makers in the match, netting the Cougars go ahead and then winning goal leading to a big NACC road win by a final score of 2-1.

Edgewood took the first shot of the game in the sixth minute but it flew wide. The Cougars countered drawing a foul outside of the box in the 15
th minute.
Sarah LaCost took the free kick and the ball found the middle of the box before
Sydney Fuller fired a strike into the back of the net to open the scoring for the match.

The Cougars created a couple more opportunities as did the Eagles, but neither were able to change the 1-0 score going into halftime.

The two sides continued to pick up the pace early in the second half. Shots by Fuller and LaCost were saved just under 10 minutes into the half. Edgewood was able to counter and draw a Cougar foul in the 65
th minute. Lauren Clark's free kick found space in the front of the net, and Alisha Nolden then tied the match on her fifth goal of the season.

The Cougars had the answer though in the 71
st minute when it was
Meghan Vasseur this time with the goal on a header from ten yards out off of a corner kick that would give CUC the lead for good. The assist on the game winning goal was credited to
Esther Annoreno.

The Cougars' back line did a good job all night long, allowing just two of Edgewood's five shots to be on net.

The Cougars (4-7-2; 3-2 NACC) now will ready to hit the road on Wednesday night for a 7:00 match in Milwaukee, Wis. against the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
