Falcons Soar Past Cougars on Senior Day

River Forest, Ill.-  The Concordia University Chicago Men's Soccer team took on Concordia University Wisconsin this Sunday on Senior Day.  After a 1-0 deficit for the Cougars at halftime, the Falcons scored three goals in the second half to put the match out of reach and give CUW the victory 4-0.

Early in the match, CUW pushed the CUC defense back on its heels with a couple of close calls including one that hit the crossbar and ricocheted away. The Cougars kept the score tied at 0-0 for the time being due to great play in goal by Roberto Aragon. Soon after, the Falcons attack turned their close calls into a goal scored by Concordia-Wisconsin's Dagoberto Diaz and the assist coming from Colin Dibb in the nineteenth minute of play making the score 1-0 in favor of CUW. Moving along through the first half, neither team mustered up a goal and the score remained at 1-0 in favor of CUW.

During halftime our six seniors were celebrated for their dedication to the program over the past four years. Roberto Aragon, Chris Arevalo, Peter Kass, Daniel Krajewski, Fabian Robles, and Diego Ramirez all lined up on the field while getting honored.

Fighting to climb back into the game, the Cougars needed to find a way to even up the score. However, the Falcons had other plans. The Concordia-Wisconsin offense continued to pressure CUC, and finally capitalized with a goal volleyed in from the center of the box by Dibb, followed up quickly by another goal by Dibb two minutes later. The two quick scores gave CUW a commanding 3-0 lead.

The Cougars (3-12, 3-6 NACC) fall 4-0 after another late goal and will return to action at Aurora University on Wednesday, October 25 at 7:00 p.m. where they will wrap up the 2017 season. Thanks again to all the seniors, and good luck in your future endeavors.
