Bucs Sink Cougars in Women's Lacrosse Conference Opener

March 6, 2016 - The third game ever for the Concordia-Chicago women's lacrosse team brought with it the opening of Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference play. The Bucs of host Beloit College provided the opposition, and they were a formidable foe. Beloit began the game with a 14-goal first half and rolled over CUC by a final score of 20-2.

Beloit began the assault with a goal just 1:23 after the opening draw. They did not let up as they scored eight goals before 10 minutes had elapsed. Three of the goals came from Hannah Drexler, including the initial tally.

Concordia-Chciago fared better in the second half, notching their rfirst goal just nine seconds after the half had begun. Sydney Fuller (Elkhart, IN/Northridge) got the ball to Anna Kellar (Collinsville, IL/Metro-East Lutheran) who beat the goalie for her first tally of the season.

The Bucs scored the next two goals before Sonja Sorensen (Berwyn, IL/Walther Lutheran) made it three consecutive games with a goal, scoring with 9:26 remaining. She was assisted by Emma Otto (Lee's Summit, MO/Lutheran High) for Otto's first point as a Cougar. Beloit then scored the final four goals to complete the scoring.

The Cougars (0-3, 0-1 MWLC) will now travel to Minnesota to play against Hamline University on Tuesday and Northwestern University on Wednesday.
