March 12, 2016 - A string of five consecutive road games came to an end this afternoon with a 20-5 loss to Wartburg College on Waverly, Iowa. The loss dropped the Cougars' record to 0-6 on the season.
The Knights opened the scoring just 46 seconds into the contest, but the Cougars tied it up a few minutes later onÂ
Margaret Doane's (Glen Ellyn, IL/homeschooled)Â team-leading eighth goal of the year. The home team took control and scored three goals within 90 seconds of Doane's strike, however, and that triggered an 8-0 run that was finally halted byÂ
Sonja Sprensen (Berwyn, IL/Walther Lutheran). Sorensen tallied with just under five minutes remaining in the half, marking the sixth straight game from the outset of the season that she has found the back of the net. Wartburg answered with the final four scores of the half to lead 13-2 after 30 minutes.

Melissa Franco (Wood Dale, IL/Fenton) stood up to the pressure and made 10 saves.
Scoring was a little harder to come by in the second half. Wartburg tallied seven beofer Concordia-Chicago struck for the final three goals of the game.Â
Anna Kellar (Collinsville, IL/Metro-East Lutheran)Â scored her fifth of the year,Â
Sydney Fuller (Elkhart, IN/Northridge)Â her third and Sorensen her second of the match and seventh of the season.
The Cougars will return home for two home games this week, beginning with a Wednesday match at 5:00 against St. Mary's College of Indiana.
