Cougar Men Fire on All Cylinders in Third Straight Win

Sept. 13, 2015 - The Concordia Cougars enjoyed entertaining the home crowd again, putting on a near-perfect performance on Sunday afternoon in a 7-0 win over MacMurray College. This marked the Cougars' third straight win to end the homestand.

The Cougars clicked on all cylinders today, only allowing two Highlander shots while taking 28 total shots on the offensive end. The first goal of the game came off the foot of Joey Malme (Green Bay, WI/NEW Lutheran) in the 10th minute. Daniel Hasko (Racine, WI/Racine Lutheran H.S.) led Malme into space, giving him a one on one with the Highlanders' keeper. Malme buried the ball in the back of the net to the left of the keeper, giving the Cougars the 1-0 lead.

The Cougars' attack did not rest long. Just three minutes later, Daniel Krajewski (Addison, IL/Addison Trail H.S.) headed home a pass from Roberto Avila (Cicero, IL/Morton East) just inside of the left post, doubling the home team's lead. Krajewski now has scored in three straight games for the Cougars.

Wanting another score before half, the Cougars got it. Will Suhrbur (Berwyn, IL/Morton West) dribbled across the box and found the right side of the goal in the 39th minute. Suhrbur's first goal of the season made the halftime score Cougars 3, Highlanders 0.

It would be all Cougars in the second half as well. Diego Diaz (Cicero, IL/Morton East) dribbled through the box and beat the keeper to the right just inside the post in the 49th minute to give CUC a 4-0 advantage.

Gibril Jobe (Berwyn, IL/Morton West) would get in on the scoring action as well in the 63rd minute, blasting in a ball in the upper corner of the net. Three minutes later, Malme scored his second of the match just inside the left post.

The final goal of the day was the second of the match for Suhrbur. Krajewski sent a pass across the box in the 79th minute that Suhrbur headed home, ending the scoring at 7-0 in favor of the home team

Concordia-Chicago (3-3-0) will have a week to rest before opening up Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play against Marian University. The Cougars will go for their fourth straight victory in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin on Saturday, September 19 at noon.
