April 29, 2015 – With a tremendous 2015 regular season in which the Concordia-Chicago Cougars improved eight games overall and seven games in conference play from a year ago, the team now prepares to play in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament Thursday through Saturday, April 30-May 2. The tournament is being held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the campus of Alverno College.
CUC finished fourth in the NACC with a 14-8 mark, their highest conference finish in recorded history. At 18 wins overall, the Cougars are just one shy of matching their all-time record for wins in a season from two years ago.
"The upperclassmen have been to the conference tournament and are excited to be back," said third-year CUC head coach
Sarah O'Malley-Fisher. "They bought into making a greater individual commitment to push the program in the right direction. They redefined the principles that our program is built on and made their own legacy based on the traditions of our past players. The team really worked hard in the offseason in all aspects of the game with a new outlook on what it means to be a CUC softball player."
The fourth-seeded Cougars play their first game on Thursday at noon against Division Street rival and fifth seed, Dominican University. A win by CUC would advance them to a second-round game at 4 p.m. on Thursday against top-seeded Aurora University while a loss would send them to an 11 a.m. elimination game on Friday. The NACC tournament is a double-elimination tournament. The championship game is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m.
