Dec. 29, 2015Â - Christmas has come and gone, and the Concordia Chicago Cougars Women's Basketball team has gone to Southern California to participate in the Poet Classic hosted by Whittier College. The Cougars will be looking to build off of a 91-77 win over Division Street rival Dominican University before the Christmas break with the 91 points matching the team's season high.
The Cougar offense has been paced this season byÂ
Lauren Orr (O'Fallon, MO/Lutheran St. Charles) at 13.9 points per game, and
Morgan Jahnke (Fox Lake, IL/Grant Community)Â at 13.0 ppg.Â
Courtney Lofink (Orange, CA/Orange Lutheran)Â has been the Cougars' dual threat, running the point for the Cougars averaging 6.4 assists a game, while also being very active in the Cougar full- court pressure with 4.9 steals per game.
Taylor Jacobsen (Aurora, IL/West Aurora)Â has also provided a good spark off of the Cougar bench, scoring a career high 17 points in the win over Dominican.
The first game of the Poet Classic for the Cougars will be against Ripon College. Ripon beat the host school Whittier College in a close 58-54 contest on Tuesday Night. The Cougars are scheduled to tip off from California at 6 p.m. (CST) on Wednesday night .
The second game will be against the tournament host Whittier College. That game is also scheduled to tip off at 6 p.m. (CST).
