Oct.17, 2015 - The Concordia-Chicago Cougars headed to Rockford this afternoon, looking to ride the momentum of a dramatic win over Benedictine University earlier in the week. Unfortunately, the Cougars came up short this afternoon by a score of 2-0 against Rockford University.
In a game that saw the Cougars outshoot the Regents by a total of 14-6, the hosts did just enough to edge the Cougars. Concordia-Chicago fired multiple shots off early in the match.
Diego Diaz (Cicero, IL/Morton East), Justin Kulpa (Wilmington, IL/H/.S.) andÂ
Daniel Hasko (Racine, WI/Racine Lutheran) all put shots on goal, but none of them could find their way past the Rockford keeper.
.
Rockford finally opened the scoring in the 39
th minute. Javier Acosta would lead Erik Manriquez with a pass that he would bury in the back of the net from 10 yards out  for the 1-0 lead.
That score would hold into halftime but not very long into the second half. In the 50
th minute, the Regents would score an insurance goal. Erik Manriquez would find Anders Wernmuth with a pass that he would put past
Jorge Guzman (Cicero, IL/Morton East) from five yards out, giving the Regents all the scoring that they would need on the afternoon
The Cougars [6-8-1, 2-5-0 NACC] will travel on Wednesday to take on Aurora University. That match is set to kick off at 3 p.m.
