April 5, 2013 - The Concordia Cougars took a one-day respite from the Northern Athletics Conference schedule and made up one of their two previously postponed games against Wheaton College. The host Thunder decided this game early as they scored all of their runs in the first two innings in a 10-1 win over the Cougars.
Wheaton plated six runs in the first on a combination of six hits, two walks and an error. The Thunder batted around again in the second as six hits and an error led to four more runs. Pitcher
Andrea Kelly (Elk Grove, CA/Laguna Creek) pitched well in the following two innings, allowing no runs on two hits.
Concordia got on the board in the fifth to spoil Wheaton's bid for a shutout.
Hannah Solyom (Lombard, IL/Walther Lutheran) walked with one out
. Alicia Salata (Bartlett, IL/H.S.) followed with a single and moved up to second as the throw went to third, too late to get Solyom.
Caitlin Richards (Chicago, IL/Mother McAuley) then grounded to the second baseman, the play going to first for the out as Solyom scored.
The Cougars (4-15) return to NAC competition on Saturday when they play two at Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin.
