Abby Pierce (Clinton Township, MI) of the track and field team is honored for the week of April 18-24.

Pierce set a new school record in the women’s discus as Concordia-Chicago hosted the Cougar Invitational on April 23. Her throw of 134’ 7” eclipsed the old record set in 1998 by K.J. Welcenbach by 12 ½ inches. Pierce finished second in the event behind only a NCAA Division II thrower. She also scored points in the hammer throw, finishing fourth with a mark of 140’ 9”.

Pierce, the daughter of David and Diane Pierce, is a 2012 graduate of Lutheran High School Northwest of Rochester Hills, MI. She is a senior exercise science major.
