Keegan Tyrell (Joliet, IL) of the baseball team is honored for the period of Feb. 22-28.
Tyrell made an impact in his first game as a collegian on Feb. 27, helping the Cougars edge Webster University 3-2 in 14 innings. The leftfielder hit a game-tying homer in the top of the eighth after the Gorloks had just taken a 2-1 lead. Later, Tyrell came to bat in the 14th with the bases loaded and worked a base-on-balls to force in the go-ahead and eventual winning run. Over the Cougars’ first two games, he batted .429 (3-7) with two runs, two RBIs, two walks and a .556 on-base percentage.
Tyrell, the son of Tom and Karen Tyrell, is a 2015 graduate of Joliet Catholic Academy in Joliet, IL. He is a freshman sports management major.
