Kurt Kempema (Schaumburg, IL) of the baseball team is honored for the week of May 5-11.

Kempema struck out a career-high 11 batters and allowed one unearned run on three hits in 8 1/3 innings in Concordia-Chicago’s 2-1 win in 10 innings against Edgewood College on May 9. The lefthander remained tied for most victories on CUC’s pitching staff but lowered his ERA to 2.76.

Kempema, the son of Karl and Mari Kempema, is a 2011 graduate of Schaumburg High School in Schaumburg, IL. He is a junior secondary education/chemistry major.
