Cassie Irwin (Shelby Township, MI) of the women’s track and field team is honored for the week of April 22-28.
Irwin had a hand in four events at the Benedictine University Twilight Invitational on April 26, all with impressive results. She enjoyed a record-setting performance in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 8’ 9”. The mark beat her previous personal standard by nearly nine inches. Irwin also anchored the 4 x 100-meter relay team and helped them to a time of 51.07 seconds, the third-best time in school history. She also tied her previous-best time in the 200-meter dash at 27.19 seconds and set a new personal mark with a 1:01.07 in the 400.
Irwin, the daughter of Ted and Sandy Irwin, is a 2009 graduate of Lutheran High School Northwest in Rochester Hills, Michigan. She is a senior Lutheran elementary education major with specializations in Sociology and language arts.
