Sami DeFord (South Bend, IN) of the softball team is honored for the week of April 15-21.
DeFord batted .765 (13-17) over Concordia’s six games last week and belted out her first two homers of the season. In the pitching circle, she went 3-0 with a 0.67 earned run average over 21 innings. One of DeFord’s wins came April 16 against Benedictine University, the Cougars’ first win over the Eagles in 31 years. For the week, she struck out 15 batters while walking four.
DeFord, the daughter of Scott and Melanie DeFord, is a 2008 graduate of Marian High School in Mishiwaka, Indiana. She is a senior business communications major.
