Concordia University Chicago Athletics

            Deanna Richardson (Bellwood, Ill.) of the women’s tennis team is honored for the week of Sept. 27-Oct. 3.

            Richardson finished up a strong rookie season with a fourth-place finish in Group “A” singles of the Northern Athletics Conference Individual Championships on Oct. 2-3. She won her first two matches over opponents from Marian University and Edgewood College including coming back from a 9-3 deficit in the third (tiebreaking) set in the latter match to win 11-9. Richardson advanced to the semifinals where she lost to eventual champion Mary Clare Loughrey of Benedictine University. Richardson finished her first season at Concordia with a 13-4 singles record.

            Richardson, the daughter of Ray and Beth Richardson, is a 2010 graduate of Walther Lutheran High School in Melrose Park. She is a freshman biology major.
