Ryan Thorsen (Lake Villa, IL) of the baseball team is honored for the week of May 14-20.

Thorsen hurled 6 1/3 innings of one-run ball in the Cougars’ May 16 Midwest Regional opener against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The lefty pitcher threw 88 pitches and allowed just two hits and two walks. Thorsen lowered his ERA to a miniscule 1.72 and finished the season with a 6-2 record.

Thorsen, the son of Pat and Connie Thorsen, is a 2009 graduate of Grant High School in Fox Lake, Ill. He is a sophomore sports management major.
