Alex Schmidt (Frankenmuth, Mich.) of the women’s cross-country team is honored for the week of Sept. 20-26.

Schmidt ran a personal season-best 21:10 for the Cougar women in the Sept. 25 Lake Forest Invitational. She finished 38^th overall while improving her previous best in the 5K by nearly a minute. Her average mile pace of 6:49.5 was her best of the season.

Schmidt, the daughter of Tyson and Sharon Schmidt, is a 2009 graduate of Frankenmuth High School. She is a sophomore physical education/health major.
