Jon Poppe (Racine, WI) of the men’s indoor track team is honored for the week of Jan. 9-15.
Poppe competed for the first time in the indoor heptathlon at Carthage College Jan. 14 and finished sixth (3,688 points) out of a field of 10. His best performances among the seven events came in the pole vault (second place, 11’ 10 ¾”) and the shot put (third place, 36’ 9”). Poppe also set a personal-best mark in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 10.31 seconds.
Poppe, the son of Randy and Cinda Poppe, is a 2009 graduate of Racine Lutheran High School. He is a junior Lutheran secondary education major with a specialization in math.
