Concordia University Chicago Athletics

Curtis Allen was named head coach of the women's tennis program in August of 2019. 
               

Allen is a graduate of Franciscan University in Steubenville, OH, where he played four years for the men’s basketball team. Franciscan did not have an intercollegiate tennis program at the time, but upon Allen’s graduation, he was offered the opportunity to begin both men’s and women’s programs. Drawing upon his knowledge of tennis and playing experience from his prep days in California, Allen got to work building the fledgling programs. His efforts produced results as the Barons first took to the courts in the spring of 2010, followed by the Lady Barons in the fall. He would be honored as the Men’s Coach of the Year for 2011 by the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.

           
Coaching presented another opportunity to Allen in 2014, when he would coach the tennis teams at Ave Maria University in Florida while also serving as the school’s director of intramural athletics. His time in these roles would be highlighted by the 2018 season, when the men’s team would improve by seven wins, finishing with a 9-5 record (4-3 in The Sun Conference).

           
Allen took on further administrative responsibilities in the fall of 2018 when he became Ave Maria’s assistant athletic director. His responsibilities included the development and management of six intramural sports, 10 club sports and three non-varsity sports.

           
Allen earned his B.S. in business management from Franciscan University in 2009. He earned an M.A. in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University of Irvine, CA in 2015.

Allen is also working for the University as a corporate relations specialist.
