Shelby Cosman returns to the Concordia-Chicago women's lacrosse staff for 2018-19 as a 2nd year graduate assistant coach.

A native of St. John, IN, Cosman attended Marian Catholic High School where she played three seasons of lacrosse. Cosman later played four years at Augustana (IL) College, where the Vikings had a four-year record of 73-9 and made the second round of the NCAA III tournament all four seasons. She tallied 87 goals and 20 assists while recording 77 draw controls over her 75-game career. Cosman was honored as a three-time member of the CCIW All-Academic team.

Cosman's coaching career began while still in high school, helping in the Illinois Girls' Lacrosse Association where she coached teams from grades 3-5 and later grades 6-8. Her later coaching experiences came with the Coolstick club team and as co-head coach of the Lincoln-Way High School (co-op) team in south suburban Mokena. She currently works with the New Wave club team out of Naperville in addition to coaching CUC.

"I'm very excited to work with Coach Russell and learn how to build a program," says Cosman. "I was part of building a program at Augustana, and now I get to see that aspect of the game from the coaching side. Coach Russell has had great success at the collegiate level and I am really excited to become a better coach under him. CUC lacrosse has a lot of potential to become a top team in the Midwest and I look forward to being a part of helping the program achieve this."

Cosman graduated Augustana in 2016 with a BA in secondary education and biology. She is completing her graduate work at Concordia-Chicago towards a master's in exercise science with a dual concentration in sports performance training and strength & conditioning.
