Kervin Kenton joined the CUC men's soccer staff in the summer of 2026.
Kenton brings high-level playing experience from three continents. He developed in the youth academies of Deportivo Saprissa and Liga Deportiva Alajuelense, two of Central America's most successful soccer clubs. He later continued his playing career in Germany, competing in the Regionalliga and U19 Bundesliga with Rot-Weiß Oberhausen before representing Costa Rica on the international stage with the U20 and U23 national teams, facing top competition from around the world. Kenton played collegiately at Coastal Carolina University, where he was a 2017 First Team All-Sun Belt selection, the 2018 Sun Belt Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, a 2018 Preseason All-Sun Belt honoree, and team captain. Following his collegiate career, Kenton was selected in the 2019 MLS Draft and went on to play professionally, including with Detroit City FC.
Kenton brings a diverse coaching background to CUC. Most recently, he served as an assistant coach at Loyola University. Prior to Loyola, he spent three years coaching at Universidad Católica de Murcia in Spain and also coached at Roosevelt University, and Chicago City SC. His coaching experience spans across NCAA and professional environments, providing him with broad perspectives on player development, recruitment, and team performance.Â
Kenton earned his bachelor's degree from Coastal Carolina University and his master's degree from Roosevelt University. He is USSF National B licensed. A native of Costa Rica, Kenton now resides in Chicago, Ill.Â
