Ron Tyner

Ron Tyner begins his third season as the offensive line coach. for the CUC football program. In Tyner's first two seasons at Concordia-Chicago, his line's blocking helped running back Lance Moise and quarterback Shane Virnala  achieve all-conference recognition while guard Anthony Lonigro earned second-team All-NACC honors in 2016 and first-team honors in 2017.

Tyner played his college ball for two years at St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, IN and three years at Olivet College in Olivet, MI. While at St. Joseph's, he earned ALl-IFA honors as a lineman. He later led the 2007 Olivet team to a MIAA conference title and an NCAA III playoff appearance.

The Grand Ledge, MI native's coaching career began at nearby Elmhurst College as a running backs coach; he would later coach tackles and tight ends, and serve as the run game coordinator and offensive line coach his final three seasons. During his time as the Bluejays' offensive line coach, seven offensive linemen earned all-conference honors, four earned all-region honors, and two earned All-American honors. In 2011, Elmhurst's offense finished 15th nationally in Division III with 454 yards per game. The following season, Elmhurst rushed for 247 yards per game, good for first in the CCIW and 20th in the country. Tyner's offensive line paved the way for running back Scottie Williams to the 2012 Gagliardi Trophy as top player in Division III. Also in 2012, Elmhurst won the CCIW championship, went to the second round of the NCAA championship and finished the season ranked eighth in the country. 

Tyner moved on to take the offensive line coach's position at Division I Bryant University in Smithfield, RI in 2013. His two seasons there saw the Bulldogs' offense rise to the top spot in the Northeast Conference, averaging 200 yards rushing and 402 yards total per game during the 2014 season. Tyner mentored four all-conference linemen in Charles Argast and Doug Flink (2013), and Abe M'Bodj and George Smith (2014). 

Tyner coached the 2015 season at Ave Maria University in southwest Florida. The Gyrenes' offensive line included Jeff Lindenmoyer whom he guided to first-team All-Sun Conference and a first-team NAIA All-American honor.

Tyner earned his BA in sports and recreation management from Olivet College in 2008.
