Charley Clark was named offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for Cougar Football in the summer of 2025.
"As a CUC alum and someone who has been coaching our players for years, Charley brings a great deal of school pride and a strong commitment to the Cougar Football program," Interim Director of Athletics Kathy Gebhardt announced. "We're excited to bring Charley onto the football staff full-time and are looking forward to seeing how he can have an even bigger impact in the years to come."
Clark takes on the full-time position after serving as a part-time assistant coach for the last two seasons, working primarily with the running backs. During his time with the Cougars the last two seasons, the team has seen a significant increase in offensive production from the running backs with Joron Brown earning 2023 NACC All-Conference recognition under his direction. During the 2024 season, the Cougars saw 908 total rushing yards from running backs while accounting for 12 of the team's 33 touchdowns on the season.
Before rejoining CUC as a coach, Clark built an impactful career in education and athletics. He served as the Athletic Director and Dean of Students at New Luther High School of Math, Science, & Peforming Arts and has held a long career as a teacher at PAEC Elementary School. His leadership experience in educational and athletic settings brings a unique perspective to his coaching philosophy, emphasizing discipline, accountability, and personal growth. Throughout his long career of coaching, Clark has seen time coaching both football and basketball.
"We have been extremely blessed to have already seen the impact Coach Clark has made these past two seasons with the Running Back group," Head Football Coach Chase Hankins noted. "That group is one of the toughest and hardest working groups in our program which is something we expect to see spread throughout both the offense and the entire team with Coach Clark moving into the Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line positions. As the players have heard about the move, they are beyond excited for him which is a further testament to the types of relationships he has built since coming back to Concordia. On top of everything else, it is always a huge deal to elevate a guy who loves Concordia and is dedicated to what we are building as a program."
As a player, Clark stood as an offensive powerhouse for the Cougars tallying more than 1,200 all-purpose yards and led the team to a winning season during his senior campaign.
Clark graduated with his BA in Business Administration and Management from Concordia University Chicago in 1993.
