C.J. Selner is joined the Concordia Chicago staff in the summer of 2017 as the Athletic Communications Director. Prior to the Athletic Communications Director position Selner served for two years as a graduate assistant in the Sports Information Department. Â
Selner directs all of the digital operations of the department. Under his direction the past two years, the Cougar social media accounts have seen a 342 percent growth. He has introduced new infographics, while also enhancing the departments’ video production and editing. Currently he oversees all video and audio broadcasts, photography, stats, social media accounts, student workers, interns, and all gameday operations.

Additionally, Selner has served as a play-by-play analyst for CUC Basketball since 2013. He also was the play-by-play analyst for Cougar football in 2014 and 2015. More recently he introduced the newest online radio for CUC baseball and softball at mixlr.com/cucougars, and has been the lead commentator for the Cougar baseball team over the past four seasons.
Selner competed for the CUC baseball team for four seasons. A left-handed pitcher, he made 34 appearances (25 starts) and threw 153 innings. Selner compiled a 12-5 record and one save with a 4.12 ERA and 107 strikeouts. The Cougars' Opening Day starter in 2014 against Morningside and 2015 against St. John Fisher, Selner was part of a team that advanced to the NCAA III regionals all four seasons and amassed a collective record of 144-43 in that span.
Selner earned his BA in communications from Concordia-Chicago in 2015 and his MBA from Concordia-Chicago in 2018.
