Jack Murphy

Jack Murphy joined the Concordia University Chicago baseball staff as the Head Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator in the fall of 2025.
 
Murphy comes to CUC with a strong background in coaching, most recently at Oakland City University where he helped guide the Mighty Oaks to record-setting seasons with 31 wins in 2022, 34 wins in 2023, and a program best 45 wins in 2024. While at OCU, Murphy helped guide the team to the 2024 NCCAA World Series with a second place finish. Prior to that, he spent time on staff at Lake Land College, Eastern Illinois University, and Hillsdale College, where he was once again part of a championship team as the Chargers won conference in 2018. Across his coaching career, Murphy has played a role in the development of 20+ players who went on to sign professional contracts. Most notably, Murphy oversaw development of Trey Sweeney while at Eastern Illinois, who went on to be drafted by the New York Yankees in 2021 with their first round pick.
 
Murphy’s collegiate career spanned across two schools as he started his career at Robert Morris University where he was named an All-Conference catcher before finishing his career at Division I Wright State University where he earned All-Conference third base accolades. Following the conclusion of his collegiate career, Murphy went on to be second round pick for the Schaumberg Boomers in 2016 before shifting gears into coaching.
 
Murphy earned his associate of science in Business Management from Robert Morris University in 2014, his bachelor of science in Business Management from Wright State University in 2016, and his MBA from Oakland City University in 2023. Murphy and his wife Laura currently reside in Oak Park.
