River Forest, Ill. - The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) women's volleyball team was back for day two of their Concordia-Chicago Invite. The team began the day with two games on the docket - first, Blackburn College at 9:00 am and then Buena Vista University at 1:00 pm. In game one, the Cougars maintained a strong presence on the court, sweeping the Beavers 3-0. In game two, the Cougars struggled and the Beavers swept them 3-0.
 
Game One
Inside the Box Score

• Neva Foster (Parker, Colo.) led in the afternoon's first match with 11 kills and 27 total attacks, along with a dig.
• Rachel Livesay (Medinah, Ill.) followed up with eight kills and 25 total attacks; her efforts also included two assists, six digs and a block.
• Ava Quevedo (Colorado Springs, Colo.) came in with seven kills and 18 total attacks, along with an assist and two blocks.

 
Here's What Happened
Set One
An attack error from the Cougars gave the Beavers their first point of the set. The Beavers quickly took on the lead, but kills from Harmonie Cooper (Chicago, Ill.) and Quevedo would tie the teams up. The Beavers continued to push, but the Cougars remained one step ahead, in the lead by two. The Cougars accomplished a three-point run with kills from Foster and multiple blocks from Quevedo. The Cougars built their lead to eight points, but the Beavers earned some points through a kill and a Cougar error. Attacks from Quevedo and Livesay pushed the Beavers further behind. A kill from Foster brought the Cougars to set point first. An ace from Livesay finished out the set, the Cougars taking it at 25-14; they headed into the second set 1-0.
 
Set Two
An ace from Rosemary Brenner (Frankenmuth, Mich.) opened up the set, earning the Cougars their first point. The Beavers were the first in the lead, going on a four-point run. Errors from the Beavers brought the Cougars back up, tying with their opponents 5-5. The Cougars took on the lead, rising to a four-point advantage. The Beavers didn't give up as they powered forward with attacks, coming within one. Beatriz Goncalves (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) widened the gap with two kills, along with a kill from Livesay. The Cougars were first to approach 20, kills from Brynn Icenogle (Brentwood, Calif.) and Livesay breaking through the score. A Quevedo attack would bring the Cougars to set point, the team still leading by five. The Cougars took the set with a final kill from Foster, ending at 25-21. The Cougars went into the third set in the lead 2-0.
 
Set Three
To open the set, Foster would grab onto the first point with a beautiful kill. The Beavers would retaliate with a kill of their own. The Cougars get in the rhythm of things fast, building a lead with kills from Indiah Day (Merrillville, Ind.). The teams continuously tied up, but the Cougars came out on top, having a two-point advantage. The Beavers kept coming, both teams putting up a major fight for the lead, tied 19-19. The Cougars took the lead under their belts, an attack from Day bringing the Cougars to the brink of another set win. A vital mistake from the Beavers would give the Cougars the set at 25-21, the team sweeping the Beavers 3-0.
 
The Cougars would take a lengthy break before heading back onto the court for game two of the day to go against Buena Vista University.
 
Game Two

• Day showed off with six kills and 26 total attacks, along with seven digs and a block.
• Foster performed well in game two with four kills and 22 total attacks while also contributing two digs.
• Quevedo had three kills and 10 total attacks, along with a block.

 
Here's What Happened
Set One
The Beavers would take on the first point of the set. They would take the lead before an error would give the Cougars their first point. A kill from Foster would put the Cougars within one. The Beavers remained three points ahead; kills and aces from the team extended their lead to eight. The Beavers continued to deliver attacks, pushing the Cougars further under. Day hindered the Beavers' six-point run with a sharp kill. As the Beavers broke 20, Day still managed to put up a fight, sending another kill over the net. An attack from a Beaver would lead their team to set point - closing out the set with a solid ace. The Beavers took set one 25-8, going into the second set 1-0.
 
Set Two
An ace opened the Beavers up for their first point of the set. After a strong rally, Icenogle delivered an amazing kill into the Beavers' side, along with an ace from Bethany Roethel (Westby, Wis.), earning the ball back for the Cougars. Unfortunately, the Beavers would earn back not only the ball, but the lead. Kills from Day would tie the teams 6-6. The teams continuously tied up; the Cougars briefly took the lead with attacks from Quevedo, but the Beavers resumed their spot on top. Kills from the Beavers had put them back into a four-point lead; the Cougars clawed back slowly. Kills from the Beavers would solidify the set at 25-20, going into the third set as leaders 2-0.
 
Set Three
An error from the Cougars would begin the set, putting a Beavers point onto the scoreboard. The Cougars would go on a three-point run, errors from the Beavers and a kill from Day, but that wouldn't last long as the Beavers remained in the lead. The Beavers took on a 10-point advantage, pummeling the Cougars into the court. The Beavers piled on points, leaving the Cougars in the dust. The Beaver continued to plow ahead, taking the set at 25-10, sweeping the Cougars 3-0.
 
What's Next
