CHICAGO, ILL.- Back in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) action, the Concordia University Chicago (CUC) Cougars visited the Illinois Tech University (TECH) Scarlet Hawks, where competitiveness and hard work ethic showcased the Cougars effort but fell short 7-0.
DOUBLES
- The Cougars once again adjusted their doubles lineup, with Amelia Engelman (McKinney, Texas) and Amirah Shakir (Dekalb, Ill.) teaming up at No.1, while Briana Bentz (Whitehall, Mich.) and Hannah Upole (Hinkley, Ohio) took the court at No.2.
- Engelman and Shakir came out fighting at No.1 doubles, earning two points before ultimately dropping the match, 6-2.
- At No.2, Bentz and Upole battled throughout the set, putting four points on the board before falling 6-4.
- Sarah Gustafson (Merrill, Wis.) and Abigail Krueger (Brookfield, Ill.) continued to compete at No.3 doubles, finishing with two points in a hard fought 6-2 loss.
SINGLES
- Engelman, Bentz and Shakir each battled to get on the scoreboard but their opponents secured the matches with 6-0-6-2, 6-1-6-0, and 6-0-6-2 victories, respectively.
- Upole strung together a competitive performance at No.4 singles, battling through a close opening set before falling 7-5 and 6-3.
- Krueger fought through set one, losing in tiebreakers, 7-2, and dropping the set 7-6.
- Gustafson kept the pressure on in both sets, battling her opponent but ultimately fell 7-5 and 6-1.
- The Scarlet Hawks swept the Cougars 7-0.
