NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) men's track & field team had an impressive day competing at the Chicagoland Indoor Championships, hosted by North Central College (NCC). The team broke a school record, stacked up personal records, and recorded multiple top-tier performances.
Notable Performances
The DMR team consisting of
Nathaniel Hernandez (Harwood Heights, Ill.),
Jamel Goins (Columbus, Ohio),
Donovan Depakakibo (Norridge, Ill.), and
Gael Arroyo (Cicero, Ill.) took bronze with a school-record time of 10:52.86. The previous record was 10:54.72, set in 2003.
The 4x400m relay team consisting of
Vincent Scarnato (Pottstown, Pa.),
Kamren Hannah (El Paso, Texas),
Austin Knight (Forest Park, Ill.), and Goins took silver with a time of 3:27.99.
Korey Randle (East Moline, Ill.) finished fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.62m while
Jonah Winkelman (Plano, Ill.) finished seventh with a personal best leap of 12.46m.
Winkelman set another personal record in the high jump with a mark of 1.64m to place sixth.
Randle secured eighth in the long jump with a personal best leap of 6.69m.
Cougar Personal Records
Hernandez set a personal record of 2:06.60 in the 800m.
In the mile,
Cosby Lux (Landgrove, Vt.),
Kam Jackson (Chicago, Ill.), and
Rodolfo Hill (Melrose Park, Ill.) recorded personal best times of 5:03.03, 5:07.74, and 7:03.98, respectively.
Nathaniel Boksa ran a 16:45.13 and
William Leonard (Oskaloosa, Iowa) ran a 17:14.17 in the 5000m to set personal records.
Julius Davis (Benton Harbor, Mich.) threw 10.73m in the shot put for a personal best.
