Green Knights Shut Out Cougars

De Pere, Wis. – On the road, the Concordia University Chicago (CUC) women's soccer team took on Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) opponent St. Norbert College (SNC). While the Cougars were able to fend off the Green Knights in the first half, they couldn't hold them in the second and fell 5-0.

Inside the Box
  • Katelyn Wagner (Lagrange, Ky.) defended the net, producing five saves.
  • Cadence Hamby (Cumming, Ga.) led the Cougars with two shots, one of which was on frame.

First Half
  • Almost immediately after the kickoff, Wagner was tested but denied the Green Knights' initial attack. The Cougars remained on the defense, applying enough pressure to not let the Green Knights get a clean shot off.
  • Wagner continued to make multiple saves as SNC kept the ball in CUC's defensive third.
  • In the 33rd minute, CUC found themselves on the attack. Hamby took a shot towards the bottom corner, but the Green Knights' goalkeeper kept the ball out of the net.
  • The teams battled for possession and remained scoreless heading into halftime.

Second Half
  • The Cougars continued to defend well but in the 54th minute, a low shot from SNC forced Wagner to make a diving save, resulting in a corner kick for SNC. From the corner, the SNC attacker curled the ball directly into the net, giving SNC a 1-0 lead.
  • Reagan Espinoza (Ventura, Calif.) led the charge up the field in the 64th minute, but her shot would end up hitting the post.
  • SNC quickly made it 3-0, scoring in the 68th and 75th minutes.
  • Natalie Flores (Placentia, Calif.) and Hamby got creative up top but couldn't find the net as CUC continued to battle.
  • The Green Knights added two more goals in the final 10 minutes to take the game 5-0.
