HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED
FIRST QUARTER
The Cougars won the toss and elected to defer into the second half.
Cayden Brown (Kalamazoo, Mich.) opened the game with a 55 yard kick off, which was returned by the Muskies. The Muskies immediately gained 22 yards on a rushing play and continued to move the ball downfield. The Cougar defense fought to stop their momentum with
Brandon Shipp (Bolingbrook, Ill.) and
Tyrell Luther (Arcadia, Fla.) combining for a sack on the Muskies quarterback. However the Muskies managed to convert the opportunity into a rushing touchdown. After a missed extra point attempt, they took an early 6-0 lead. The Cougar offense struggled to convert another first down in their opening drive and was forced to punt. After allowing an 11 yard rush, the Cougar defense responded by shutting down the Muskies on a turnover on downs in Muskies territory. Brown opened the ensuing drive with an eight yard rush before Bosch connected with Lawson on a 26 yard touchdown, giving the Cougars a 7-6 lead. The Muskies answered with a deep touchdown pass of their own, reclaiming the lead at 13-7. The first quarter ended with the Cougars in possession of the ball at the LKD35, trailing 13-7.
SECOND QUARTER
The second quarter opened with the Cougars facing a fourth down, where Brown delivered a six yard rush to keep the drive alive. After picking up another first down, Bosch connected with Lawson again, this time for a 30 yard touchdown reception that tied the game 13-13. The Cougars defense continued to apply pressure, forcing another turnover of downs. Brown then led the offense on a drive featuring a combined 60 yards of rushing, finishing with a one yard touchdown run that put the Cougars ahead 20-13. Another strong defensive stand halted the Muskies next drive. Brown opened the Cougars drive with a one yard rush before Bosch found Lawson for a 27 yard reception. However, an unnecessary roughness penalty pushed the Cougars back 15 yards. Randle helped regain momentum two plays later with a 12 yard reception, moving the Cougars into Muskies territory. Brown capped off the drive with a four yard rushing touchdown, extending the Cougars lead to 27-13. The Muskies responded with a touchdown before halftime, cutting the deficit to 27-20.
THIRD QUARTER
The Cougars began the third quarter slowly but regained momentum after finding
LJ Lane (Pompano Beach, Fla.) for a 22 yard completion. After a two yard rush, Bosch energized the offense with a deep pass to Randle, who turned a 69 yard reception into a touchdown. The score extended their lead to 34-20. The Muskies unable to convert started the Cougars drive on the CUC43. Looking to move the chains, Bosch connected with
Wesley Jackson for 36 yards. After gaining a few additional yards on the following plays, the Cougars settled for a 28 yard field goal, adding the score to 37-20. The third quarter ended with the Muskies trailing 37-20.

Brown sparked the offseason with a ten yard rush followed by 12 yards from combined plays. Bosch then connected with Brown for a 14 yard completion and a first down. Brown finished off the drive with an explosive 32 yard rushing touchdown, extending the Cougars lead to 43-34.
