Cougars Fall to St. Norbert

De Pere, Wis. - The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) men's basketball team made their way to De Pere, Wis. to face off against the Green Knights of St. Norbert College. After a fast-paced battle, the Green Knights swept the Cougars with a final score of 85-61.

 

Inside the Box Score:

  • Aaron Brown (Joliet, Ill) left the afternoon's game with 11 points and three rebounds.
  • Sebastian Hill (Decatur, Ill.) ended the afternoon's game with 11 points, a rebound and two assists.
  • Jacob Robinson (Saint Louis, Mo.) ended the afternoon's game with nine points and a rebound.
  • Ryker Johnson (Fond du Lac, Wis.) left the afternoon's game with eight points, two assists and led with six rebounds.
 

Here's What Happened

First Half

The Green Knights got a taste of the first points with a three-point jumper. Brown came in quick with a jumper, but the Green Knights fought back with a layup, 2-5. The Green Knights quickly built their lead with some free throws and another three, putting the Cougars in an eight-point deficit. AJ Willard (Germantown, Wis.) performed a nice cut and got a layup in. The Green Knights lead against the Cougars by 10 points. The Green Knights continued to hammer out shots beyond the arc, leaving the Cougars to trail by 11 points. Honore Yangoua (Williamstown, Ky.) was able to put up a driving layup. Johnson landed a three-pointer, getting the Cougars into double digits, just as the Green Knights surpassed 20. The Green Knights got in a hook shot and a jumper, 13-29. Hill got in a jumper, trying to lessen the score gap between the teams. Brown got in another tight layup, the Green Knights swarming him. Hill got a three-point jumper in, hitting 20 for the Cougars. Matthew Guthrie (Carlyle, Ill.) had put up a layup, lowering the Green Knights lead to 10. The Green Knights went into halftime in the lead with a score of 37-24.

 

 

 

Second Half

Two layups from Willard started off the half for the Cougars. The Green Knights broke 40 after some free throws, the Cougars still down by 12 points. The Green Knights quickly hit some 3-pointers, leading to an 18-point deficit on the Cougars' end. A layup from Hill helped the Cougars break 30 while the Green Knights broke 50. Some layups had put the Green Knights up by 24 points. Hill put a stop to the Green Knights scoring streak with a three, but the Green Knights still continued to stack points. Johnson and Kenton Pryor (Hazel Crest, Ill.) got some layups in. Another layup from Pryor helped break 40, 41-65. With an assist from Darrian Williams (Garland, Texas), Brown was able to get some driving layups up. Luca Bade (Lagrange Park, Ill.) joined his teammate in scoring with a jumper, 56-85. With 0:18 remaining, Robinson hit a beautiful three, breaking 60. The Green Knights took the game with a final score of 85-61.

 

 

 

 

What's Next
