Game One
Inside the Box Score:
- Emily Garcia (Eastvale, Calif.) went a perfect three for three on the day, where she had a home run, two RBI, and ran in two runs.
- Arissa Santos (Moreno Valley, Calif.) went one for two and ran in two runs as well.
- Alyssa Lopez (Corona, Calif.) picked up the win on the mound, where she pitched four innings, with two strikeouts, on 16 batters faced.Â
Â
Here's What Happened:
- The Cougars had a quick defensive top of the first inning, where they had three up, three down putting them up to bat.
- Garcia had a lead off single up the middle then stole second to place herself into scoring position. A throwing error by the Warriors then placed Santos on first and allowed Garcia to advance to second. Jessica Geng (Phoenix, Ariz.) grounded out to second base, but this allowed Santos to advance to second and Garcia ran home to bring in the first run of the day.
- Another error by the Warriors allowed McKyler Morris (Belvidere, Ill.) to reach first, and Santos to get home to add another run on the board. To round out the scoring in the first inning, Ashley Shroll (Tampa, Fla.) singled to left field, bringing home Morris. The Cougars took an early 3-0 first inning lead.
- Both the Warriors and Cougars had quick three up, three down situations in the second inning as well as the top of third. Mayah Larenas (Chino, Calif.) was the lone hit of the third inning with a single to left field, but without any other hits in the bottom half, she was left stranded. The Cougars still led 3-0 heading into the top of the fourth.
- The Warriors had their first hit of the day with a single to left field, but no runs would come of it, and the Cougars were quickly back up to bat.
- Linley Southern (Decatur, Ill.) had a lead off single to left field and Garcia had a home run to put two easy runs on the board, allowing the Cougars to increase their lead to 5-0.
- Following the home run, Santos doubled to left field and Larenas was hit by a pitch, putting runners on first and second. Morris doubled to shortstop, allowing runners to advance and Santos to score. The final runs in were thanks to a fielding error by the Warriors where both Morris and Larenas scored, making the score 8-0.Â
- With the Warriors, unable to obtain any runs in the top of the fourth, the Cougars took game one in just five innings.

- In the top of the third, the Warriors scored their first and only run of the inning, but the Cougars still led 4-1.Â
- Neither team scored in the fourth, fifth, or sixth inning, and the lone hit was by the Warriors in the top of the fourth.Â
- In the top of the seventh, the Warriors gained some much needed momentum where they scored two runs, and had the tying run at third, but with Ashley Shroll coming in to pitch, she did what she needed to do to get the Cougars out of the inning and took game two, 4-3.Â
