RIVER FOREST, ILL. -- Returning to Concordia Stadium for the first time since 2019, the Concordia University Chicago women's track and field team dominated their home turf and secured a team first place victory among many other highlight moments.
During the meet, the Cougars honored their seniors in
Jerzey Allen (Bevier, Mo.), Aniyah Isom (Chicago, Ill.),
Ari Koepp (Belle Plaine, Minn.), Ariel Martinez (Berwyn, Ill.), Tegan Oas (Shingle Springs, Calif.), Eve Shelton (St. Louis, Mo.), and
Daisia Wilson (Belleville, Ill.) for their years of dedication to the CUC Track and Field program.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
- Six Cougars picked up first place finishes on the day.
- Izzy Fairless (Royal Oak, Mich.) placed first in the 800m with a PR time of 2:24.89.
- Noor Sammour (Berwyn, Ill.) placed first in the high jump with a 1.44m mark.
- Isom placed first in the long jump with a PR distance of 5.28m.
- Emma Nickerson (Lake City, Mich.) placed first in the pole vault with a height of 2.60m.
- The 4x100m relay consisting of Allen, Isom, Shelton, and Wilson placed first with a time of 51.82.
- The 4x400m relay consisting of Oas, Breanna Walters (Poplar Grove, Ill.), Addi McKee (Knoxville, Ill.), and Fairless placed first with a time of 4:34.69.
COUGAR PERSONAL RECORDS
- Martinez picked up a new PR in the 5k with a time of 19:59.12.
- McKee picked up a new PR in the 800m with a time of 2:48.66
- Grace King (Fairland, Ind.) picked up a new PR with a time of 2:57.31.
As a team, the Cougars placed first with a total of 186 points, more than 100 more than the next closest team. The Cougars will be back in action next week, as they head to Milwaukee for the Green and White Invitational. Updates and coverage can be found at cucougars.com.
