Ndang, Smock, and Walters Kick Off Cougar Invitational With Throwing Events

LISLE, ILL. -- With the return of the Cougar Invitational for the first time since 2019, the Concordia University Chicago women's track and field team kicked things off with the throwing events. 
  • Velda Ndang (Plainfield, Ill.) got things going in the shot put, where she placed third with a mark of 9.17m.
  • Following shot put, javelin got underway with both Madalyn Smock (Poplar Grove, Ill.) and Breanna Walters (Poplar Grove, Ill.) throwing for the Cougars. Smock picked up a third place finish with a distance of 22.22m while Walters placed fourth with a 20.24m throw.
  • Smock wrapped up her day with a second place finish in the hammer throw with a new personal record distance of 29.08m before closing the day with a first place finish in the discus with a 29.77m throw, for yet another personal record. 
The Cougars will be back in action at 10:00am tomorrow, April 12th, for the running and jumping events at Concordia Stadium. Live coverage, including live results and live streams, can be found at cuocugars.com/coverage.
