NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) men's track & field team took on day two of the First Chance Invite, hosted by North Central College in Naperville, Ill.
Notable Performances
- Austin Knight (Forest Park, Ill.) secured bronze in the 200m, with a personal best time of 21.75.
- Also taking bronze was Jamel Goins (Columbus, Ohio) in the 400m hurdles with a time of 57.38.
- The 4x100m relay team of Vincent Scarnato (Pottstown, Pa.), Julian Switzer (Lake in the Hills, Ill.), Jaden Taylor (Southfield, Mich.), and Knight finished sixth with a time of 42.76.
- With a mark of 1.80m (5-10.75), Darius Strother (Joliet, Ill.) finished in the top 10 of the high jump.
Cougar Personal Records
- CJ Morris (Douglasville, Ga.) set a personal best mark of 30.56m (100-3) in the discus throw.
- With a time of 2:06.91, Adrian Mendez (Plano, Ill.) set a personal record in the 800m.
- In the 200m, John Cano (North Riverside, Ill.) set a pr of 24.18.
- Scarnato ran an 11.37 in the 100m.
"The good weather helped the men's track team," Coach Andrew Chizzo said. "They had a lot of personal success utilizing the good weather. Personal records were achieved all throughout the two-day meet and in every event group: distance, throws, jumps, and sprints."
The Cougars' next meet will be the Chicagoland Championships, hosted by Elmhurst University on April 4-5.
