KENOSHA, Wis. - The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) men's track & field team rounded out the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) Indoor Championships today in style. The Cougars topped the pack in the 4x400m relay and secured multiple top eight performances. As a team, CUC finished seventh of 11 teams, with 39.5 points.
Notable Performances
- The 4x400m relay team, consisting of Miguel Sanchez (San Antonio, Texas), Vincent Scarnato (Pottstown, Pa.), Jamel Goins (Columbus, Ohio), and Austin Knight (Forest Park, Ill.) took gold, with a time of 3:27.85.
- Sanchez earned bronze in the 400m with a time of 50.85.
- Knight scored points in the 200m dash, registering an indoor PR of 22.61, to finish fifth.
- Scarnato and Matthew Cardwell (Cinncinati, Ohio) rounded out the heptathlon today, finishing seventh (3319 points) and fourth (3792 points), respectively. In the final three events, Cardwell placed fifth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.82, eighth in the pole vault with a mark of 2.90m (9-6.25), and third in the 1000m with a personal best time of 3:01.22. Scarnato set two PRs today, one in the 60m hurdles with a time of 10.01 to finish sixth and in the 1000m with a time of 3:20.13 to finish 11th. He also finished 15th in the pole vault with a mark of 2.20m.
- In the high jump, Darius Strother (Joliet, Ill.) secured bronze with a personal best height of 1.86m (6-1.25).
- Also in the field, Brandon Montford (Fairburn, Ga.) placed sixth in the shot put with a personal best mark of 13.17m (43-2.5).
Personal Records
- Nathaniel Boksa ran a personal best of 9:54.13 in the 3000m.
- Donovan Depakakibo (Norridge, Ill.), and Cameron Mitchell (Racine, Wis.) both set personal bests in the 800m, with times of 2:04.61 and 2:11.99, respectively.
- Jayden Taylor (Southfield, Mich.) ran a 23.75 in the 200m.
- In the shot put, Austin Jackson threw 8.65m (28-4.5).
The Cougars are back in action on March 28th for the First Chance Invite, hosted by North Central College.
