CHICAGO, Ill. - The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) men's track & field team traveled to Chicago today for the Aurora Grand Prix. Against tough competition, the Cougars set multiple personal records in a plethora of events.
Notable PerformancesÂ
- Miguel Sanchez (San Antonio, Texas), Vincent Scarnato (Pottstown, Pa.), Jamel Goins (Columbus, Ohio), and Austin Knight (Forest Park, Ill.) teamed up in the 4x400m relay. The Cougars finished fifth with a time of 3:25.72.
- Dayton Merli (Union Mills, Ind.) placed fifth in the pole vault with a height of 3.50m (11-5.75).
- Julian Switzer (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) finished just outside the top 10 for the long jump. He took 11th with a personal best leap of 6.10m (20-0.25).
Cougar Personal Records
- Switzer also set a personal record in the 200m with a time of 23.69.
- Kyle Knutsen (Sterling, Ill.) also registered to personal records. In the 60m, he ran a time of 7.69, and in the 400m, ran a time of 56.73.
- Also in the 400m, Manuel Mendoza set a new best time of 54.90.
- Cameron Mitchell (Racine, Wis.) bested his time in the 800m (2:13.05).
- Three Cougars set personal records in the weight throw. Travon Thomas (Wauchula, Fla.), CJ Morris (Douglasville, Ga.), and Eli Likens (Richland, Mich.) recorded marks of 11.38m (37-4.00), 11.07m (36-4.00m), and 8.15m (26-9.00), respectively.
The Cougars' next meet will be Friday January 31. The Cougars head to Bourbonnais, Ill. to compete at the Walter Cramer Invitational, hosted by Olivet Nazarene University.
