NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Concordia University Chicago women's track & field team opened up the new year at the Cardinal Opener, hosted by North Central College. Of the six teams, Concordia finished fourth.
Notable PerformancesÂ
- Izzy Fairless (Royal Oak, Mich.) finished seventh in the 800m run with a time of 2:37.40.
- In the 400m, Tegan Oas (Shingle Springs, Calif.) took ninth with a time of 1:05.40.
- Two Cougars did well in the high jump. Harmonie Cooper (Chicago, Ill.) set a personal record of 1.40m (4' 7") to place seventh. Noor Sammour finished fourth with a mark of 1.50m (4' 11").
- Sammour also cracked the top 10 in the triple jump, finishing sixth with a leap of 9.54m (31' 3.75").
Cougar Personal Records
- Madalyn Smock (Poplar Grove, Ill.) threw a personal best mark of 8.24m (27' 0.5") in the weight throw.
The Cougars' next meet will be the Heenan Invitational on Saturday, January 18, hosted by North Central College in Naperville, Ill.
