River Forest, Ill. - The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) women's tennis team hosted Marian University as they defended their home court. The Cougars absolutely dominated the match winning 7-0, and earned their second National Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) win of the season.
Doubles Competition
The duo of Jessica Parker (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) and Tatiana Overton (Bolingbrook, Ill.) have won their second consecutive doubles match as they were able to get the first win of the day for the Cougars. The final score of their match was 6-1.
The second doubles match win of the day came from Kamila Giza (East Dundee, Ill.) and Mary Curtis (Worden, Ill.) where they absolutely dominated, winning their match 6-0.
Singles Competition
The first singles win of the day went to freshman Curtis who took control of her court, winning 6-1 in both rounds. Curtis had a great day as she won in both her doubles and singles matches.
The next win for the Cougars came from Demi Presto-Martin (Brookfield, Ill.). Presto-Martin charged forward and never looked back as she won her match with final scores of 6-0 in the first round and 6-1 in the second.
Overton brought in another win for the Cougars as she matched the energy of her doubles win by winning in her singles match with final scores of 6-1 and 6-0 in both her rounds of play.
Parker had to battle for her singles win but still came out on top as she won the first round 6-4 and the second round 6-1. Parker won both her matches of the day.
The fifth singles match win of the day was rewarded to Amirah Shakir (Dekalb, Ill.) as she had a little bit of battle but came out on top winning round one with a final score of 6-3, and round two with a final score of 6-4.
Last but not least, the sixth singles match win of the night went to Giza. Her singles match went to three rounds and was a battle until the very last point. Giza fell in the first round 3-6, took round two 6-5, and won the third round 10-8.
Looking Ahead
