RIVER FOREST, ILL. – In a tight Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) matchup, the Concordia Cougars battled with the Edgewood Eagles, falling 5-4.
DOUBLES
Starting the day off on a high note, the Cougars battled during their doubles matches. Every doubles pair managed to score as
Kevin Bullens (River Forest, Ill.) and
Reynaldo Leal (Weslaco, Texas)were the only duo to pick up a point winning their match 8-4.
SINGLES
Finishing first in the singles match, Leal fell in two sets 6-1 and 6-2. Right after,
Diego Loveshe (Franklin Park, Ill.)fell in his own set despite securing a handful of points in each set. The Cougars wouldn't score their first single point until a tiebreaker match in the number one singles spot from
Collin Dickey (Frisco, Texas) would make it a 5-1 game in favor of the Eagles. A 6-1 and 6-3 win from
Joshua Gustafson (Merrill, Wis.) followed with a 6-3 and 7-5 win from Bullens would leave the Cougars falling by one point in the match.
Despite the battle back, the Cougars would fall 5-4. The next matchup will be at St. Norbert College on Sunday, April 21
