Sanchez Steals The Show At Tadd Metzger Invite


KENOSHA, WIS. — As the Concordia University Chicago (CUC) men's track and field team begins to approach the conference championships, they are continuing to push boundaries in the track and field world. This weekend, they traveled to the Carthage College Tadd Metzger Invitational, where they placed fifth out of 10 teams.

 

Notable Performances

  • Miguel Sanchez (San Antonio, Texas) had an incredible day on the track, picking up two first place finishes in the 200-meter and the 400-meter. In both races, he picked up new PRs, with a 23.080 second time in the 200-meter and 52.14 second time in the 400-meter

  • In the 55-meter, Henry Jones IV (Atlanta, Ga.) grabbed a second place finish with a PR in the preliminary of 6.59 seconds. He also finished ninth in the 200-meter

  • With a third place finish in the high jump, Austin Knight (Forest Park, Ill.) had an impressive day in both the field and on the track. He also finished fourth in the 200-meter

  • Joining his teammate with a third place finish, Matthew Cardwell (Cincinnati, Ohio) did so in the triple jump final. Additionally, he finished in eighth in the 200-meter with a new PR of 23.81 seconds

  • Mauricio Xochitecatl (Carol Stream, IL) finished fourth overall in the 1000-meter with a time of 2:49.26

  • E'mareion Glover (Saint Petersburg, Fla.) also had a fourth place finish, in the high jump with a new PR of 1.75 meters

 

Cougar Personal Records

  • In the 200-meter, Randy Contreras (San Antonio, Texas) joined his teammates with a new PR of 24.55 seconds

  • Gael Arroyo (Cicero, Ill.) snagged a new time in the 3000-meter with a 9:57.42

  • In his first time in the 800-meter, Kameron Jackson (Chicago, Ill.) ran a time of 2:17.47

  • William Leonard (Oskaloosa, Iowa) grabbed two new PRs on the day, in the 1000-meter with a time of 2:55.71 and the mile with a time of 4:54.01

  • Joining Leonard was Gus Strenge (Battle Creek, MI), with new PR times of 3:06.02 in the 1000-meter and 5:15.10 in the mile

  • Finally, Jayden Taylor (Southfield, Mich.) had two new PRs in the 200-meter with a 24.53 second time and in the long jump with a 5.93 meter mark
