MOUNT VERNON, IOWA – On their quest for their first win of the season Concordia University Chicago Cougar men's lacrosse team (0-3, 0-0) traveled to Mount Vernon for their first road non-conference matchup of the season against the Rams of Cornell College (1-2, 0-0). The Cougars fell to the final score 11-3.

Goalie Peter Borkowski (St. Louis, Mo.) made 18 saves, tallying him up to 59 saves this season.

Andrew Lechuga (El Monte, Calif.) scored his first goal of the season and his sixth career goal.

Henry Hayes (Oconomowoc, Wis.) himself scored. The freshman has now scored in two of the first three games this season.

Zachary Lewandowski (West Dundee, Ill.) was the third Cougar to score for the team, and his second goal of the season.
First Half:
Despite the heavy onslaught of attack from the Rams shooting 12 times, six on target during the first period, Borkowski kept them off the board in the first keeping the game scoreless. He would finish the first half with 10 saves. The Rams would find the breakthrough less than four minutes into the second period at the 11:03 mark to take a 1-0 lead. The Cougars would get their offensive attack going shooting on net four times during the second period, highlighted by a pair of shots from both Seba Miller (Cherry Hill, N.J.) and Hayes. By halftime, however, the Rams offense would put four more up on the board and extend their lead to 5-0.
Second Half:
Coming out of halftime, the Cougars were rejuvenated as a unit as they only conceded one goal in the third period. Furthermore, Cougars broke the shutout and scored their first goal of the game thanks to Lechuga at the 11:55 mark of the period.
Then, with less than a minute remaining in the third, Cougars struck again on the scoresheet with Hayes to cut the deficit down to 6-2.
When the fourth period arrived, the Rams put an immediate end to the Cougars comeback and would score five more goals on route to victory. The games' final goal, however, would be credited to the Cougars as Lewandowski gave them their third goal of the game.
