RIVER FOREST, Ill. – In the season finale, the Concordia University Chicago Cougars (11-15, 3-10 NACC) hosted the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) Scarlet Hawks (15-14, 7-6 NACC). The Cougars fought hard, keeping it close, but ultimately fell 3-0 to the Scarlet Hawks.

How It Happened
Set One
The Cougars started strong with an 9-3 run, capped off by a solo block from
Eve Dicken (St. Louis, Mo.) and a service error from the Scarlet Hawks.
The Scarlet Hawks would close the gap to 9-6, but Concordia would bounce back and extend their lead again to 16-8.
McKayla LeVoy (Kankakee, Ill.) and Adler each had a service ace in the run, along with a massive kill by
Neva Foster (Parker, Colo.).
The set remained close, with the Scarlet Hawks leveling with the Cougars at 21-21 and prompting a timeout from Concordia. Out of the timeout, the Scarlet Hawks would finish out the set and take it 25-23.
Set Two
The Cougars started the second set with a 4-1 lead, with a kill from
Kate Foley (Milwaukee, Wis.) and two from Livesay.
The Scarlet Hawks settled in and tied the game back up, but Livesay would step up with three more kills to maintain an 8-6 lead.
However, the Scarlet Hawks would break away from the Cougars, going on a 9-2 run. An attack error by IIT and a big kill from
Lili Hunt (Greenfield, Ind.) put Concordia within three, 15-12.
The teams traded points, and a pair of kills from Dicken kept the Cougars within four, 20-16. Yet the Scarlet Hawks secured the last five points needed to take set two, 25-18. The Scarlet Hawks led 2-0 in sets.
Set Three
In set three, the Scarlet Hawks put their foot down and stormed out to a 13-3 lead. After a service error on the Scarlet Hawks, the Cougars picked up two more points with an ace from
Brooke Christensen (Blaine, Minn.) and a kill from
Jordan Brown (Bensenville, Ill.), to make it 14-6 IIT. An error and a kill by Dicken would put Concordia within six, 14-8, but from then on it was all the Scarlet Hawks. IIT went on an 11-2 run to take the set, 25-10, and the match, 3-0.
