The Foresters started out the game by getting the first point. However, Janelle White (Morton Grove, Ill.) was able to respond quickly by getting a kill for the Cougars and their first points put on the board. Set one was constant back-and-forth of exchanging points between the Cougars and the Foresters. The Cougars were able to gain a small lead of five points led by kills from Livesay. The score was 13-8, in favor of the Cougars. The Foresters went on a small run and were able to get the match within one, where the score was now 15-14. The score stayed within two points the remainder of the match, but the Foresters went on a 2-point run followed by a three-point run which brought them ahead, and allowed them to take set one. The final score of set one was 25-23, in favor of the Foresters.

Set Two

Set two started off with back-and-forth point exchanges between the Cougars and the Foresters. After an early long rally, the Cougars were able to gain a lead of 6-points. The lead featured major digs from White, a block from Harmonie Cooper (Chicago, Ill.), and huge swings from Dicken and Kate Foley (Milwaukee, Wis.). With the Cougars in the lead and nearly halfway through the second set, the score was 11-5, and the Cougars forced the Foresters into their first timeout of the set.

Out of timeout the Foresters gained a point for themselves. The Cougars proved relentless and their scoring run would continue. This time, Livesay made a name for herself and got a huge kill. The score was 17-7, in favor of the Cougars. The Cougars forced the Foresters into their final timeout of the set.

Out of the timeout the Cougar powerhouse of Perkins brought down a huge kill for the Cougars. The Cougar lead proved too far gone for the Foresters and the Cougars took set two with a final score of 25-12. Each team was now at one set a piece.

Set Three

The Foresters took an early 2-0 lead in the third set, however the Cougars were quickly able to claw back and tie up the score after a kill from Perkins at three points a piece.

The Cougars never looked back as they were able to increase their lead, which made the score 10-5. The Foresters were able to gain a pair of points in an attempt to shrink the Cougar lead. Although the Foresters came within two, a kill from Dicken brought the Cougar lead back up to three. The score was still in favor of the Cougars, 13-10.

The Foresters struggled to stop the Cougar momentum, and with the score at 18-13, the Foresters took their first timeout of the third set. Out of timeout, the Foresters were only able to score four more points in the set. The Cougars took advantage of attack errors from the Foresters, as well as overpasses allowing huge kills for Cougars, Foley being one of those Cougars. After a few plays, Dicken showed her strong swing once again and got another kill to add to the Cougar lead.

Out of timeout, the Foresters came out hot, scoring a kill instantly. However, the Cougars answered with an ace from Roethel, shifting the momentum back to the Cougars. The score was now 20-10.
