Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Sydney Paulauskis-Lauher, Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

Despite Schultz Career High Numbers, Cougars Fall To WLC

MILWAUKEE, WIS. — Heading to the Northern part of the conference today, the Concordia University Chicago (CUC) men's soccer team had a battle against the Wisconsin Lutheran College (WLC) Warriors. In this Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) matchup, the Cougars would just fall short of a victory and lose this game 2-0.

Inside the Box Score:

The first half of this game would be met with a heated battle between the two teams. This would result in heavy work put on the defensive fronts to halt any sort of offense. In the 9th minute, Poynter would get his first shot on goal, followed by one from Arias, but none would find their way in for a point. For the next 20 minutes, CUC would be handling the offense as Poynter would have two shots on goal, and another brought on from Nicholson.

At this point, the Warriors would try to turn the tide, but Schultz was strong in net and kept WLC from taking the lead. Heading into the half, these two would be caught at a stalemate of 0-0.

Opening up the second half, WLC would be the ones to blaze forward towards a goal. They would try for a couple shots on goal, but Schultz continued to hold them off. However, CUC was given a yellow card and a free kick occurred in front of the goal that resulted in a Warriors point 1-0.

In the 71st minute, the Warriors would score again and pull away to a lead of 2-0. Towards the end of the game, two red cards would be issued, one for each team. In light of this, no other progress was made by the Cougars and they would ultimately fall 2-0 to the Warriors.

The Cougars will be back at home this week as they host a Homecoming Week game on Wednesday at 2 p.m. against the Illinois Institute of Technology. Coverage for all of our sports can be found at cucougars.com/coverage.
