ROCKFORD, ILL. – The 2023 season officially kicked off for the Cougars, as the men's cross country team traveled to Rockford for the Rock River Invite.
- Mauricio Xochitecatl (Carol Stream, IL) placed first among the Cougars with a 16th overall finish. The senior hit a 17:33.2, averaging a 5:39 minute mile.
- Behind Xochitecatl was sophomore William Leonard (Oskaloosa, Iowa). Leonard ran a 19:13.8, and he averaged a 6:11 minute mile.
- A pair of Cougars came in after Leonard, as Gus Strenge (Battle Creek, MI) finished with a 20:04.9 and Jazael Rodriguez (Berwyn, Ill.) hit a 24:39 for the maroon and gold.
