MEQUON, WIS. — As the Concordia University Chicago (CUC) softball team finds themselves in the heat of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC), they fell in two games against the neighbor of the North, Concordia University Wisconsin.
Game One
INSIDE THE BOX:
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Falcons took it an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first after a triple up the middle set the scene for the game.
- By the bottom of the second it was clear the Falcons felt their force as three hits, two of which were doubles, put the Falcons up by six.
- Unable to convert on the offensive side, a quick three outs would force the Cougars to play defense again, ultimately falling prey to another strong batting bout from the Falcons. A double in the bottom of the fifth would score two runs for the Falcons and retire the game after five innings.
Game Two
INSIDE THE BOX:
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Tight Cougar defense held the Falcons scoreless for the first three innings of the game. A double into center from the Falcons would score their first run of the game and open the doors for the explosive fourth inning they'd have. Picking up eight runs on seven hits, the Falcons continued to dominate the Cougars.
- After a single from Tierney got a runner on base, a double from Pieroni would score the lone run of the day.
- Unable to convert any further, the Cougars ultimately fell 9-1 after six innings of play.
The Cougars will be back in action on Sunday at home as they take on Aurora University with a 12:00 pm first pitch. Coverage can be found at cucougars.com/coverage.
